The PROGRESSIVE ARABESQUE-sound combined with the (PERSIAN-) TECHNO-elements build up the rather heavy-charged “Delbakhteh”. This is a lovely song, but a bit too MINIMALISTIC for Pouya’s traditional ornamentation, arrangement-wise! “Jashne Aayene” is the ballad that the fans of Pouya and the genre in question have been waiting for. Reminiscent of Moein’s CONTINENTAL and romantic ballads, but without a proper CLIMAX! …Very disappointing in fact! Taraneh Enterprises Inc. 2004 (1383) Pouya’s “Roya” will become a commercial success, without a single doubt! As it already has found its place in the hearts of his MANY fans of all ages! NOW!! “Parishoon” is my personal favourite from the album, mostly because of the highly appreciated employment of the creator’s PROGRESSIVE ARABESQUE sound! UP-BEAT and energetic! I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to see Pouya actually “dancing” in this particular music-video! Actually, I had to watch it a couple of times in order to MAKE SURE that I was seeing correctly! …VERY COOL!! Winding things up a few notch, continues the album with the BANDARI-fare “Baavaram Nemishe”. Even though the song itself is a rather conventionally crafted and performed fare, the short ELECTRONICA-inspired outro deserves to be referred to as outstanding! It’s a shame that it didn’t grace all its entirety! Follow it up does another RHYTHMIC song called “Aroose Aarezoohaam”, inspired by the original NOJOOKI-sound from the 80’s. This is another favourite of mine! Another CONTINENTAL and romantic ballad ends Pouya’s third full-length offering. “Roya” is however, unlike “Jashne Aayene”, a song with clear manoeuvres and CLIMAX! Reviews described herein are mere opinions, and must be construed in that manner only! In other words they are not absolute! Yet another BANDARI fare on the menu. WOW. How about that?! “Yaasi” enjoys just like its sibling a very conventional BANDARI-sound! Nice, …but conventional! Could have used a fresher twist! Opening with Pouya’s tribute to the motherland, comes “Vatan” as a rather typical Radmanesh-song with his own mellow brand of PROGRESSIVE ARABESQUE. This is a rather heavy opener for an album, I must say! With MOEIN being the absolute figurehead of the Persian Arabesque/POP-genre at its RIGHT WING, Pouya came and took it YET ANOTHER STEP towards the radical right, through an ultra-conservative vocal-style that conveyed even lesser elements of HOPE and JOY! At the same time, his music has in this album started to lean more and more towards the LEFT pole, resulting in “somewhat uplifting melodies carrying a voice of despair and solitude“!! As the norm-defying Persian Arabesque/POP very “often” tends to do! All things considered, even this small “lightening up” is a rather RADICAL STEP taken by Pouya whose two previous albums were heavy SENTIMENTAL repertoires, vocally and musically! In the positively surprising “Roya” even the man’s vocal-ornamentation has stopped sounding “contrived“ and is slowly but surely finding the proper and appropriate level of performance. His voice is getting “naturally RIPE” and sounds no longer as “a-twenty-something-trying-to-reach-a-premature-middle-age“! With only an “R” distinguishing our names apart, you can’t imagine how many letters of infatuation I receive mistaking me for the man! After having re-directed each and every single one to the “R-less” one of us, it’s time to review his third offering till date. In a collaboration with Babak Radmanesh, Tigran Sakian, Babak Rouzbeh, Babak Sahraie (it‘s nice to see so many Iran-based lyricists on a LA-produced album!), Hassan Shamiezadeh, Jaklin, Hamid Nadiri, Paksim and Schubert Avakian comes “Roya” holding 8 tracks and released on Taraneh Enterprises Inc.. Pouya roya album download.
